I would say, overall, that my challenge is explaining why we do and make decisions on some things; for example, trying to explain to a customer that the regulation states “this” and that is why we cannot do the deal exactly the way they wanted to. My biggest reward is helping those customers who are being their first house and I start the process with them and see it through to the end. There are a lot of parties that make this happen, so we do work together to get the deal closed. It makes me smile when I receive a card in the mail or flowers delivered to the office from a customer that I have helped.

What I like most about my job is that every day is different. I come in each day and have the ability to do office work or get out of the office and meet realtors, attorneys, potential customers, etc. I have the flexibility to participate in seminars, business luncheons, and anything else I feel would help me in my position. Helping my customers keeps me coming back to work each day. I am definitely a people person. The banking industry keeps evolving with new products and ways to conduct business with the new generation. This is important because the millennials are our new customers and we need to continue changing and adapting to the new technology and means of communication.

My personal position here at the bank has changed, so yes, my whole world changed. I realized really quick that there is too much to learn all at once, so I have had to adapt to learning as I go because every single scenario to mortgage lending is different. I have had several positions with Reliance Bank. My advice to customers would be to always talk to us first. We have everything that would meet their needs, so never be afraid to ask us anything. We are here for the customer and want their experience to be a positive one.
