[Altoona, PA – November 28, 2023] – Reliance Bank today announced a $5,000 donation to the Blair Emergency Services Chaplain Platoon (B.E.S.C.P.) to support the development of a new wellness app for first responders, emergency service professionals, and their families.

B.E.S.C.P. is a non-profit organization that provides peer support services to emergency responders in Blair County. The organization is made up of retired police officers, corrections officers, emergency medical service workers, and firefighters who have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by emergency responders.

“We are incredibly grateful for Reliance Bank’s generous donation,” said Chaplain Mike Blackie, a retired officer of the Altoona Police Department and member of B.E.S.C.P. “This funding will allow us to develop a much-needed resource for those working in emergency services.”

The new wellness app will provide emergency responders with a variety of tools and resources to help them manage stress, prevent burnout, and address mental health issues. The app will also connect emergency responders with local support groups and services.

“Our goal is to create a one-stop shop where people can find the support they need to maintain their mental and emotional well-being,” said Chaplain Blackie. “This app will be an invaluable resource for our community.”
