No. VA Loans require a non-refundable VA funding fee at closing, but you don’t have to make a downpayment. If you choose to make a downpayment of 5% or more, your VA funding fee will be reduced.
Yes, you’ll need to provide a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Veterans Administration that details the type and length of your service. You must have served either 90 consecutive days of active service during wartime, 181 days of active service during peacetime, or more than six years of service in the National Guard or Reserves. If you are the spouse of a service member who has died in the line of duty or as a result of a service-related disability, you may also be eligible.
